Glengarry House

An old colonial feel was the design           inspiration behind the work on this Victorian villa.

As part of a comprehensive renovation in 1997, we designed a Verandah for this 1898 Victorian Villa to replace it's dilapidated conservatory. The Verandah with a sweeping roof complimented the lush architectural planting in the garden whilst providing outdoor space for dining and relaxing, sheltered from the sun and rain.

In 2003 we designed a single and two storey extension to the north side of the house. This addition created a large garden room, pantry, utility and cloakroom on the ground floor. On the first floor a luxurious ensuite bathroom and dressing room were formed.

Whilst the house is not listed, we gave the detailing of this historic home as much attention as if it were. As a result the work was designed to blend seamlessly with the original house and  incorporated, imperial brickwork, salvaged clay tiles, stone flooring and bespoke joinery.

The use of scale, curved roof, plain clay tiles, and oversized timber posts endow the west facing verandah with an authentic colonial feel.
